| | Bogus Callers in Chase Division 15th, April, 2008 | | | | | | Officers from Chase division are urging residents to be on their guard against bogus and suspicious callers after a number of incidents involving suspicious callers during the first week of April.
Detective Chief Inspector of Chase division, Pete Wyatt, said: “We would urge anyone receiving a knock at their front door to remember the Stop, Chain, Check system.
“Stop and think – if you’re not expecting a caller and they don’t have an appointment – don’t let them into your home.
“Chain – use the door chain before opening the front door.
“Check – ask to see identification and double-check this by calling the company they are representing, before letting anyone into your home.
“If in any doubt – call 999 immediately.”
