Neighbourhood Watch and Business Watch
Stafford and Stone
Neighbourhood Watch is open and free to everyone and is a way of encouraging community spirit.
There are over 250 schemes in Stafford Borough covering over 18,000 households stretching from Meir Heath at one end of the Borough to Forton at the other, and there are three objectives for members. They are;
- To reduce crime and the fear of crime
- To bring back community values
- To help the police
Neighbourhood Watch isn’t political, there are no vigilante street patrols and it isn’t run by the police, and each scheme is unique and can cover a whole village or just a handful of houses. The biggest scheme in the Borough covers 700 households and the smallest scheme just 2.
Dovetailing nicely with Neighbourhood Watch is our very successful Business Watch which is aimed at the many Industrial Estates throughout the Borough.
The principles are exactly the same as for Neighbourhood Watch and members are kept informed of any suspicious incidents and/or crime trends in their particular communities. A massive benefit for members of all our schemes is the free WatchOUT system which allows the police to send out messages via telephone or e-mail. |
